Shadows of Norrath: News

News
Welcome to the darker side of Norrath...
Shadows of Norrath is a casual guild, located on the Unrest server, and belongs to a number of friendly players who are here to have fun and make the most of their playing experience. We're a fairly young guild and working our way towards higher levels. Though currently our numbers are few, we're always on and willing to help. We're currently recruiting all levels and classes, no matter your level of playing experience. We are also willing to train and help new players - everyone had to start somewhere right?

Brewday Has Returned!!
Liagaela
Drink, Dance and Celebrate!

The shouts of rowdy patrons located near every player city will lead you to The Bar of Brell where adventures both new and familiar await those thirsty and foolhardy enough to enter. You can access the bar from Antonica (near the North Qeynos Gate), The Commonlands (by the Freeport gates), Timorous Deep (on the Docks), Greater Faydark (at the stable near Green Knoll) and from Haven.

NOTE: An evil toon who enters the bar from Antonica or Greater Faydark will be returned to Commonlands upon exiting. Likewise, a good toon entering from Commonlands will be returned to Antonica.

For those looking to celebrate this festival in their own tavern, "Balin Copperfoot" in The Bar of Brell can provide you with several tradeskill recipes! Also returning this year are the quest givers "Gilin Rockbreath", "Rasel Alecatcher", and "Snoogle Blitzed". The "Avatar of Below" has also returned to Antonica. Help him find the best sampling of drinks from all around. New for this year is the quest Valla Brewhammer's Special Brew given from "Valla Brewhammer" who can also be found in The Bar of Brell along with the other quest NPCs.

As you're crawling through the bars and drinking holes throughout Norrath, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Brews Across Norrath shinies that are appearing in bars and pubs around Norrath.

The Brewday festival will begin on March 11 and run through March 22.

Sentinal's Fate & Other News
Liagaela
If you didn't pre-order the new expansion "Sentinal's Fate" and recieved it seven days before the offical released date, then you've no doubt been looking forward to this day.

With this expansion many abilities and achievements might have been changed depending on your profession. Gaining experience and leveling has become MUCH easier. Experience is gained quickly through killing mobs in this expansion rather than the quest based experience in the ROK expansion.

**Also the mentoring system for "shard instances" has been changed. You can no longer mentor down, in order to grey out the zone, then unmentor to complete the quest. If you mentor below your level the zone MUST be completed at that mentored level now.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In other news: I'd like to inform everyone that I will not be playing for a while due to financial issues. If anyone needs to get my attention, for any reason, they can either go through Alric or contacted me here. Even though I will not be playing I will continue to check the website on a daily basis.

Frostfell
Liagaela
It's beginning to look a lot like Frostfell! Frostfell returns to Norrath starting on December 10th and runs until January 7th, 2010. There are tons of new items and quest so I urge you to take a few minutes and go check them out.

The Icy Keep questline and instance has returned this year, with an additional heroic quest. The vendor is also back again this year, selling the armor, weapons and house items from last year. There has also been several new house items added this year that are quite exciting for those of you who are into decorating.

For those of you not familiar with the event, a magic closet will be available in the various cities (Qeynos Harbor near the clocktower, West Freeport across from the bank, Kelethin near Joleena's pub, at the bottom of the lifts in Gorowyn, and in the Foreign Quarter in Neriak) leading to a Frostfell Wonderland instance. On top of containing several quests, Santa Glug (who will give you a random gift once every 24 hours), and purple glowies for a special collection, this instance contains harvestable present nodes bearing resources needed for Frostfell crafting.

Heroes' Festival
Liagaela
"The Heroes' Festival has begun! A call has gone out to all Norrathian adventurers to commemorate the five years that have passed since the Refuge Islands first began collecting those lost in the turbulent oceans. Celebrators, happy to share in the festivities, can be found in North and South Qeynos or West and South Freeport."

Starting Tuesday, November 24 the Heroes' Festival arrived to Norrath. During this festival there's a special purple glowie collection scattered around the participating cities. The reward is very cool and I urge everyone to finish this collection before the event is over. Also along with a collection there are two quest mobs, or so I've found so far. The first will be found next to the main festival celebrators and you must complete her quest before you can get the second one. A warning to all non-combatant types; the second set of quest will require you to fight 3 sets of mobs. This can be gotten around if you have any stealth/invis abilities, however you will need to fight the top set of mobs to get the green shiny. (The reward for the first quest is your choice of a drink or pie. The rewards for finishing the final quest is a painting and a claymore statue.)

So I urge everyone to sit back, relax, and join the festivities!

Congratulations Everyone!!!
Liagaela
I'd like to congratulate everyone on obtaining level 30 - give yourself a round of applause! I would also like to announce that thanks to all that great effort, we've now acquired our new guild hall! It can be found all the way on the top, western most building, of South Freeport (-24, -7, 197). It's accessible to all guild members to use, but please be patient when trying to find things; we're currently organizing rooms and amenities at this time.

Qeynosians need not fear we've made sure that there will be no need to run for your life through the streets to get there and back out again. For now we only have limited spots to add amenities, but as the guild levels more spots will become available. For now we've added what we thought would benefit the guild as a whole: Guild Translocation Beacon, Druid Portal Hireling and a Mariners Bell - Shattered Lands. Once we hit level 35 we'll acquire two more amenities and continue to acquire two more for each 5 levels there after until we hit level 60. After that we'll acquire one extra spot every two levels until level 80.
____________________________________________________

For anyone who is new to accessing a hall, there are 3 ways to go about doing so:

(1) Run/Walk
(2) Use the Guild Translocation Beacon to teleport there.
(3) Purchase a guild door from your local city merchant that can be placed in your house and used to access the guild hall at any time.

No matter which method you use to get there we highly recommend that once you're inside you bind yourself to the beacon. Afterwards all you have to do is call back to guild hall and then use one of the provided methods to exit.
____________________________________________________

Again congratulations to everyone and let's continue working together to reach that next goal.
